Jack Orswell, 64, was born and raised in Pasadena, California. He attended Pasadena High School and Pasadena City College and in 1971 he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. Upon graduation, he worked for a local Certified Public Accounting firm in Pasadena. In April 1973, Mr. Orswell received an appointment as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. For 15 years, he served in the Denver, San Francisco and Los Angeles offices, working white collar crime cases such as bank fraud, political corruption and labor racketeering. Mr. Orswell received specialized training from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and he was one of the first FBI Agents to work with the EPA in investigating federal environmental crimes. One of the highlights of his career was helping coordinate security of the judo venue at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.
In 1988, Mr. Orswell moved from government service into private industry, and worked for an insurance investigation company in Santa Ana, conducting environmental insurance claims investigations. In 1990, Mr. Orswell started his own company, which is currently located in Monrovia, California.
His company employs 10 people and conducts environmental assessments for financial institutions, real estate companies and law firms. Mr. Orswell is also a licensed Private Investigator with the State of California and conducts environmental investigations throughout the United States. In 2009, Mr. Orswell returned to college and earned his Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership from Woodbury University.
Mr. Orswell recently retired as a Reserve Police Officer for the City of Arcadia, a position he had held since 1993. He is an Eagle Scout and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the San Gabriel Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America. While an active Scout unit leader for over 30 years, Mr. Orswell organized 10 international trips for local high-schooled aged young men and women to meet other scouts throughout the world, to foster a better understanding of their various cultures and traditions. Mr. Orswell is a Presbyterian Elder in his church in Pasadena and has served as a member of the church Session since 1995. He is also currently serving as the chair of the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee and is a member of the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership and the San Gabriel Valley Legislative Coalition of Chambers.
Mr. Orswell and his wife, Janet, have been married for over 43 years, and they have lived in Arcadia for the past 30 years. They have three adult children and five grandchildren. He has been honored by the San Gabriel Valley Council Boy Scouts of America with the Silver Beaver Award, and he is a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. He has also received the Honorary Service Award from the Hugo Reid PTA. He is a life member of the FBI Agents Association; a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Environmental Assessment Association; the National Association of Government Guarantee Lenders; and ASTM, International.
